STOPTHEFAKES - LEVERAGING BLOCKCHAIN SERVICE IN FIGHTING COUNTERFEITING AND COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT

In a bid to wholesomely stop the infringement of intellectual property and all forms of counterfeiting, StopTheFakes, a decentralized service that is based on Blockchain, has been created to give complete power back to rights holders. StopTheFakes has the required infrastructure to provide to right owners, a very transparent and trustworthy system that will provide information regarding the infringement of their rights, regardless of geographic location or anything else. Our method involves, retaining as commission fee, part of a customer’s payment to his or her provider, and our token (limited number of tokens) is the only payment means that customers will buy for the purpose of compensation, and Blochchain technology will ensure protection of customers against forgery, and, using our system, industries will be able to minimize their expenditure on protection of copyright and counterfeiting.
CURRENT MARKET AND INDUSTRY CONDITION
Developments in science and technology in the 21st century has seen companies spend more on advertisement than on what they produce. As estimated by marketers, in 2017, $547,370 billion will be spent by companies, on advertisement of goods and services. However, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has also predicted that $461 billion counterfeit worth (still a low estimate), will be sold worldwide and a huge part of counterfeits are sold at reduced price which causes rights holders to be affected by competition from violators as well as reduced turnover. Experts also determine the upper threshold of losses to reach $1.7 trillion. Combined income generated from drug, human trafficking, prostitution and illegal gambling do not compare to those generated from counterfeit products sale, infringement of copyright and use of commercial brand names illicitly.
The following is a global estimation of turnover annually, from counterfeit products and intellectual property rights infringement;

• $63billion – Pirated software
• $45billion – Automobile components and spare parts
• $169billion – Electronic devices
• $49billion - Food
• $12.5billion – Music
• $34billion – Toys for Children
• $200billion – Medicine
• $12billion – Footwear
• $12billion – Clothes
• $8.1billion – Videogames
• $8,5billion – Cable TV programs
According to the OECD, the USA with 20% tops the list of countries that record losses from the infringement of intellectual property rights. Others are, Italy -15%, Switzerland – 12%, Finland – 2%, France -%, China – 1%, Great Britain – 4%, Belgium – 2%, Spain – 2%, Japan – 8%, Germany – 8%, Luxembourg – 3%.
The USA is currently playing a role in combating piracy. Moves such as, shutting down 82 websites that counterfeit, on Cyber Monday, by the US Department of Homeland Security, on November 29, 2010, and making amendments to the Intellectual Property Law by the US Congress, which will allow security lockouts to foreign websites that sell counterfeits, are some examples that show the seriousness of their intentions. However, their moves so far have proven ineffective in the fight against piracy as the market is on the rise. Also, on October 1, 2011, Japan and several other countries, including the USA, signed an agreement – the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA), which intends to protect the right of intellectual property.

HOW OUR SERVICE WORKS
The quantity, size and name of each file in the system is recorded in the Alert, for additional recording and comparison purposes, and the system configures HS, a hash amount received from the Doer. Additionally, a block containing information from the alert to be sent to Blockchain, is configured by the Doer’s Module. The information includes, Request’s ID, HS entry, Date and time of recording, Date and time of sending, GPS coordinates of infringement, Doer’s ID, etc.
Our StopTheFakes.io system uses Inter Planetary File System (IPFS) network knots to generate a distributed file system for storing large amount of data, and an internal billing system is created to enable Doers and Requestors to create SUB wallets as well as make external payments.

OUR TECHNOLOGY, RATINGS, POINTS CREDITING SYSTEM, AND GENERAL PRINCIPLES
Our team is currently developing an app for mobile platforms and a browser extension, and when the ICO is over, we will get others on board the development process, thus expanding our team. We also plan to launch new versions of our app, regularly.
Our rating system will reduce expenses on content reviewing as well as improve the quality of Alerts.
In crediting points, Refusals are awarded zero points for a Аlert notifying of an already known infringement, zero points for unconfirmed infringement, and a 1-point loss if the alert contains data that is inaccurate. A Doers’ account will be deleted without being able to re-register, if they are caught cheating, and where there is a complaint against a Doer, after making a case-by-case investigation, the Administration may blacklist the account.
The principles of our services include,
• Keeping track of Doer’ rating as well as updating it online.
• Doers receiving or loosing points for some actions.
• Doers and requestors being able to view the number of points a Doer has earned the latest modifications, and their rating.
• As a user gains more points, his position and earnings increase commensurately.
• This rating system applies to only Doers.
APPLICATION OF BIG DATA
After the launch of our service, 12-16 months later, our software which we are currently developing, will have access to Big Data services.
Users will be allowed by Big Data Analysis to the analysis of the timeline of infractions, and the geographical spread of infractions, as well as compare the activities of offender's’ by brand, region, price range, merchandise, etc.
